Notes
Samuel Backman b. Probably born in Lombyn kylässä in 1712.
Lived with his parents, perhaps with Samuel Backman [Uncle] near Voyrissa. Worked as a farm hand, in Kaarlelan. Went through“wilderness area” and visited Rimmilla in 1731. Samuel gave a speech to Vöyrin court on 2-4-1732. On his fathers mothers side, widow Elizabeth Juhanintyttären, who was childless, was given by court the name “Backman”. Laski [as a young boy?] showed his manlyhood at age 22. In December [when he was 22] gave a document which gave him a free home. Had 50 ”dollars” value of personal property. However, it was proven and witnessed,so the process was not tampered with, and the home gift was sealed so that the name Samuel Backman still stays as is. Leskiand Elisabett took the loan and carried it. Sammuel’s grandson Samuel Gabrielinpojalle [Samuel”Gabriels boy”] was left without anything. However, a grandmother's relation took pity and gave him some money who was against Samuel's mother (Maria Agander) keeping her money. At the same time Samuel was told this, that his deceased mother Maria Agander in 1713 gave to the bank under name John Knubb Kaskbysta 30 copper “dollars” and 3 shields of silver-plate, which Samuel now wanted to redeem. Knubb had said, did you buy those, he swore he did. This document gives a picture that the Backman’s family heritance were immediately following. Samuel became son-in-law, Lyttsin near Palon village of Kaarlela in 1732. His father [in law] Mickel Lyttsin died in 1748 and he was buried next to his wife. Samuel wanted to undertake farming in 1750, to one day have his own place nearby, but some people were against him, because they were looking at a very dry land. The landowner settled the matter, but it is not known how it ended. For him consent was given in 1754 to move onto this barren land. Samuel said (in about 1754) that Christoffer Mortin were with the Lystts and Lussin around 1710, who had been rooming at their building next to their mill at Perhojoessa. At Samuels death were his two oldest boys, in1769 they had moved elsewhere, the young children needed someplace to go. Then son-in law Mickel Matipoika Simonsbacka could have taken them, but he died in 1767. Then they were in care of Erik Erikinpoika Lyttsin in 1782.
